Sub Amp 1 DSP / Subwoofer amplifier with built in DSP module

Sub Amp 1 DSP is essentially the same amplifier as the Sub Amp 1, except for the DSP module. The use of DSP technology gives you superior ways to correct room problems, and achieve a sonic performance as good as possible in any room.

The room is part of your system, an unknown variable impossible to completely take into accunt when constructing a subwoofer. This is why most manufacturers choose to look the other way in this matter. Our way to cope with room problem is DSP, it can correct most of the resonances found, and at the same time adapt the sound character to whatever sound the listener prefers.

The room issue
A well designed speaker may vary let´s say +-3dB throughout the frequency range, but the room itself can easily introduce tops and dips in the region of +- 15 dB. This often cause otherwise good speakers sounding mediocre in a troublesome room.

The solution

Improving the room properties is a safe way to a better sound reproduction, but even using the most extensive measures it´s very hard to get rid of all resonances in a room. DSP is a much more cost effective way of dealing with the problems. You can easily adjust the system to suit almost any room.

Is DSP always good?
Many DSP products in the market today offers only mediocre resolution and add a lot of distorsion. This can lead to poor reproduction. Our products use the absolutely latest and best available DSP technology, the same as used in professional studios, giving you the benefits of DSP but without the risk of reduced dynamics, increased noise levels or increased distorsion.

How to operate the DSP processor
You can alter the settings using the buttons and the LCD display directly on the Sub Amp. However, connecting the RS232/USB connector to your PC, you can control everything from your listening position.


Cabinet design
We have used 25 mm MDF for the cabinet to make it stable and rigid. Several layers of piano finish paint is then applied to achieve the deep black high gloss look.

The amplifier

The Sub Amp 1 DSP uses a powerful 300 watt amp to make sure high levels of sound can be achieved without distorsion, still maintaining the control. The amp is well equipped, with a toroidal transformer, large electrolytics and a heavy heat sink for effective cooling.

The 24 Bit/96 kHz resolution and the markets most advanced software makes sure the sound can be adjusted to any kind of character without the risk of loosing quality and precision. The internal DSP resolution is 32 Bits. Hardware is important to achieve top end quality, but without a properly designed software the end result would still be limited. The software we use is developed by one of the worlds leading companies in this business. The company has been active in the studio business for more than 25 years, and are now taking their first steps into HiFi. Many years of development work lies behind the software used in the Sub Amp 1 DSP.


Sound characters and settings

10 band graphic EQ
This enables you to set a near perfect average frequency response in your particular room. This is a great oppurtunity to adjust for different characters or areas of use.

High pass and Low pass filters
Individual filters that can be set to exact crossover frequencies, with 12 or 24 dB/oct slopes. Useful when the bass has to operate in a narrow range for example.

This parameter can be adjusted to match the other speakers in the system.

This setting enables you to move the subwoofer "imaginary", which means greater oppurtunities to place the sub where you would want it.

User presets
You can program a selection of your favourite settings/characters using the LCD or connected PC, such as Rock, Pop, Home Cinema and so on. These can be stored and recalled with a push on the button. Very useful if you want to switch between music or movies for instance.

PC Remote control
Sub Amp 1 DSP has a RS-232 port that can be connected to a PC with XTZ PC Remote installed. The PC can then control all settings, and you can tune your subwoofer sitting in your chair.

Display OFF
The display can be turned off automatically after a preset time.
